'EVE: Valkyrie' Is Free Once More For Best Buy Customers

Earlier in the year Oculus and CCP Games teamed up to offer EVE: Valkyrie for free to anyone that pre-ordered an Oculus Rift. A few months on and that deal is returning at Best Buy.

Anyone that picks up the VR headset between now and the end of the year over on the retailer’s website will get a free copy of CCP’s popular multiplayer dogfighter. Seeing as the company is still offering the Rift at the standard price tag of $599, that might make this the best place to pick one up if you’re already planning Christmas presents (and the person on your list has been very good this year). That’s especially considering Valkyrie is one of the few games to be awarded 9/10 by UploadVR.

Don’t forget that every Rift sold also comes with a free copy of Lucky’s Tale, so you’ll get two games free of charge, just like those that pre-ordered the Rift got back in March. The only thing missing is a place in the queue to pre-order Oculus Touch. It’s not clear if any other retailers are offering this promotion, though the Oculus store itself isn’t. We’ve reached out to CCP for clarification and will update you if the deal appears anywhere else.

EVE: Valkyrie lets players take part in epic space battles across CCP’s celebrated EVE universe. If you’ve already stopped playing then the extra people this new deal should bring in might prompt you to pick it back up. If that’s not enough, then how about free add-on content like new modes and maps, and the upcoming promise of cross-play support with other headsets?

Speaking of other headsets, the game will be launching on PlayStation VR on October 13th, with a Vive version still planned to hit before the end of the year. Elsewhere, CCP as a whole is working on two more VR games in Gunjack NEXT, a sequel to its turret shooter, and TRON-inspired multiplayer title, Project Arena.
