'A Haunting: Witching Hour' Gets Even Creepier With New Teaser Trailer

Horror games and VR are starting to go hand-in-hand as of late. Between A Chair in a Room: Greenwater, upcoming PS VR titles like Resident Evil 7, Here They Lie, Weeping Doll, Dying: Reborn, and even well-known upcoming games like Paranormal Activity, horror is shaping up to be one of the most popular genres in our budding industry of head-mounted displays.

One of the other games you should have on your radar is an upcoming indie project by the name of A Haunting: Witching Hour. We first debuted the game back in July to show off its relatively unique take on locomotion with details about its narrative that mixes elements of crime dramas with supernatural horror, reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project. Now today, Enyx Studios has released a brand new teaser trailer for the experience, which you can watch above.

It doesn’t show a lot of gameplay, but what we do see is their attention to detail with regard to the careful timing and editing of the teaser video itself. If you’re not quite sure what the game is about based on that teaser, don’t worry: that’s sort of the point.

“We are trying to take a page from what American Horror Story did with their Teasers for this season,” said Don Hileman,  CEO of Enyx Studios, in an email to Upload. “They did a great job creating creepy teasers that don’t say too much.”

This first release is Episode One of the total story and follows a film crew that’s making a documentary about a horrible tragedy that happened in which a man was convicted for murders that he claims a witch committed. A prequel demo is also planned as a lead-in to the full first episode. Currently, Episode One is slated to release sometime before the end of 2016 .

A Haunting: Witching Hour will be available for PC, both 2D and VR, and will support the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The team is also planning to release the game on PS4 with PS VR support – they’ve already gotten their dev kit – and will eventually add Xbox One support after the fact.
