Hover Junkers' Next Update Is About Guns, Guns And More Guns

Looking for yet more things to shoot with your HTC Vive? Hover Junkers will have you covered with its new update.

Stress Level Zero’s popular multiplayer shooter has just launched its 1.2 Loadout update, which adds a lot of new goodies to the game. The highlight is the bunker, a new personal space for players in which they can test out guns at a target range and customize their inventories for battle. To complement these new features, the developer is also adding new guns to the game, with two arriving every week for the next four weeks.

This week’s weapons include a new four barrel shotgun named the Quadshot, and a semi automatic handgun named the Stapler. The trailer above hints at what other tools of destruction are on the way, though you’ll have to wait until next week to find out more about the next two. A new character named Lonewolf has also been added.

Of course, Hover Junkers isn’t just about shooting things; there are also some new attachments to add to your vehicle. They include diving suits, shark trophies and even flamingos, helping you to customize your death machine just that bit more. A bunch of bug fixes and tweaks also help round up the update.

Interestingly, Stress Level Zero has also added support for LAN multiplayer, though you’ll have to follow some specific instructions to get it to work. If you do figure it out, though, you’ll be able to enjoy local VR multiplayer with your friends, which is something sorely missing from the scene at the moment. Steering the game’s ragtag hovercrafts while trading shots with enemies with a friend right next to you is sure to be a fun experience.

Hopefully these updates will serve to add a bit more variety to the overall Hover Junkers experience, which we cited as one of the main flaws when we reviewed the game a few months ago. Overall, though, we found it to be a fast and fun experience that any Vive owner should try out. Hopefully we’ll hear about it coming to other platforms like the Oculus Rift in the near future.
