For Those About To Play AC/DC's New Pinball VR Table, We Salute You

AC/DC might not really be AC/DC anymore (sorry, Axl), but you can at least reminisce about the good old days with this new virtual pinball table, which debuts on Gear VR today.

The Stern Pinball Arcade developer Farsight Studios released a new DLC pack starring the legendary rock band, featuring the classic line-up and not the most recent iteration starring the Guns n Roses singer. It’s based around a real table that now sells in the thousands. Staples like Highway To Hell and Back In Black play as you take on a table that’s packed with images of the group, complete with throwbacks to some of its classic tracks. There’s also an appropriate shrine to the devil in the middle. Otherwise we wouldn’t consider this a true AC/DC table.

You can watch a trailer for the experience below. It promises 12 classic rock tunes during which you can Shoot to Thrill, though sadly there’s nowhere to hold your drink.

There’s enough here to make you a true Pinball Wizard… oh wait, sorry. Wrong band.

The days of heading to a bar and hitting a table may be a thing of the past, but with VR pinball fans need not despair. Stern Pinball has recaptured the spirit of bringing your favorite bands and franchises to tables without having to leave your seat. The Chicago-based developer has also created digital tables for Spider-Man, The Walking Dead, Transformers and Metallica.

Stern Pinball Arcade itself is a free download that comes with a table based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The AC/DC table costs $9.99. Other themes include Star Trek and Starship Troopers. The game is only available on the Gear VR right now, though it’s also due to release on the Oculus Rift as well as other non-VR platforms.

In other words, you could quickly rack up quite a bill for this ‘free’ game. If pinball’s your thing, though, don’t let us stop you.
