How To Watch Coachella's Second Weekend Live In VR

How To Watch Coachella's Second Weekend Live In VR

On Monday we reported that internet streaming juggernaut YouTube was taking a massive leap forward in its immersive content strategy by enabling live 360 videos for the very first time. This weekend they are kicking it off in style with a live stream of the second weekend of Coachella.

That’s right, the popular music mega-festival is YouTube’s first big platform for utilizing its new 360 live-streams. Starting this weekend you’ll be able to view select performances live from Coachella stages in glorious spherical immersion.

Here’s how to get in on the action.

Option 1: YouTube

YouTube has been around long enough to master the art of digital streaming online. Although the scope has changed, the simplicity of its platform is very much on display with this new 360 platform.

All you’ll need to do to find yourself right in the middle of the action is visit YouTube’s 360 Coachella hub. Here you’ll be able to browse past experiences while also partaking in live performances from some of the show’s biggest artists.

You can also check out Coachella’s own version of a 360 headquarters that integrates YouTube’s content as well.

YouTube may be making a big splash with its Coachella 360 broadcasts but it is not the only way you can experience Coachella this year with a VR headset.

Vantage.TV – in conjunction with Coachella itself – has built a virtual reality app that will allow you to view behind the scenes content, tours of the festival, and live-streamed performances inside of a VR headset.

The Vantage Coachella experience is compatible with Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard. Joining the virtual party is as simple as downloading the Coachella VR app and opening it inside of your preferred mobile HMD.
