Acer might have just launched its very own VR headset, but the company is continuing to invest in the StarVR device, too.

Last year, Acer revealed that it had partnered with StarVR creator Starbreeze to help design, manufacture and sell the device. Now Acer has revealed that it’s added $5 million to a joint investment with Starbreeze on StarVR, making it the majority owner of the VR headset. The investment will bring Acer’s total interest to 66.7 percent and the company will relieve Starbreeze of its “remaining capital commitment” of $7.5 million.

In a statement, Starbreeze insisted that it was still fully committed to the device, though would now place focus on content. The company has already produced experiences like Overkill’s The Walking Dead VR.

StarVR is designed as a high-end headset used for location-based VR sites like arcades and promotional installations. It offers a wide 210 degree field of view (FOV) and 5K resolution, though its design is also quite bulky and we haven’t always been impressed with the experience it offers.

IMAX is the first to start using the headset along with the HTC Vive at its VR arcades around the world. That said, we still haven’t really seen the headset play a prominent role in the industry. Perhaps with this latest cash injection, we’ll start to see it a little more.
