We finally have a release date for the early access version of brutal VR rhythm game, Against, and it’s not far off.
The neo-noir slasher, which looks like a bloody take on Beat Saber and Pistol Whip, launches on SteamVR on December 16. Developer Joy Way confirmed as much during the Upload VR Showcase today with a new trailer, which you can see below.
Against Release Date Revealed
The trailer introduces us to the story element of the game, in which a detective takes on a city overcome with evil. We then get another look at the rhythm action gameplay, in which players beat and slice enemies to the beat in a themed level with a boss fight that will probably look a little familiar to any Marvel fans out there. Levels consist of stationary sections interspersed with on-rails moments in which you’ll wall-run and dodge obstacles, too.
As we previously reported, Against will launch with seven levels, each of which comes with three difficulty modes. They’ll also all feature their own boss fights and other story-driven elements. Expect gameplay tweaks and new levels and modes to be added over the course of early access, and we’ll keep our fingers crossed for Quest and PSVR versions, too. We went hands-on with the game earlier in the year and really enjoyed its vicious take on one of the most popular genres of VR gaming.
Against isn’t the only Joy Way game we’re featuring at the Upload VR Showcase today – stay tuned for more updates!
