Meta debuted a new look at Among Us VR during today’s Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, as well as confirming a Holiday 2022 release period for Quest 2 and Rift.
Among Us VR was announced last December at the annual Game Awards and is set to release for Quest 2, PC VR and PSVR. At the time, we only got a very quick tease of the game, but the gameplay trailer from today’s Meta Showcase gives a much clearer picture of how the game will translate across to VR.
New Among Us VR Trailer
As you can see above, the VR version of the game will be the same game as the original, with all of the same core mechanics, but built from the ground up for VR.
Innersloth, Schell Games and Robot Teddy are developing the title, set to release later this year ahead of the holidays. While Meta only confirmed a holiday release for specifically Quest 2 and Rift platforms, it seems likely that Steam and PSVR will launch at the same time or soon after. As we reported last week, a Steam database entry listed a November 10 release date recently, which lines up with a holiday release.
Just like the original, the minimum number of players to start a game is four, with a maximum of 10 players total per game. There’s no word on cross-platform play, but we’re still holding out hope. given the party sizes, it seems almost essential for Among Us VR to offer players on different platforms the chance to group up regardless of what headset they’re using.
