Overrun Games’ Arcaxer, one of the bigger games on the SideQuest platform, is now available on App Lab.
The game launched on Facebook’s new distribution platform this weekend. Arcaxer is a role-playing game (RPG) with a mix of third and first-person adventuring. You wade through dungeons, controlling your character from an isometric view. When it comes to combat, you’ll fully embody your character to take on enemies first-hand. Check out the trailer below.
The game features three main classes including fighter, thief and mage, with each introducing different gameplay mechanics. First-person combat is turn-based but implements real-time elements like physically avoiding incoming attacks and aiming your own. Plus there’s a training element that sees you hitting punch bags and running on treadmills to boost stats.
Dungeons are procedurally generated and the developer compares the game to titles like Undertale and Paper Mario. Playing on PC? The game’s also coming to Steam on February 25th with support for Rift, Vive and Index.
There shouldn’t be any differences between the App Lab and SideQuest versions of the app, but the former won’t require you to install it via sideloading. Facebook launched App Lab earlier this month as a means of distributing games and apps without having to pass the same regulations for the full Oculus Store. We’ve got a guide to finding and installing App Lab content right here.
Arcaxer costs $24.99 on App Lab, but you can try out a free demo over on SideQuest. Are you interested in the game at all? Let us know in the comments below!
