The Game Awards happened tonight and the Best VR Game of the Year award was officially announced during the main show, rather than the pre-show, for the first time. This year the award went to Beat Saber. Yes, it was also nominated last year.
The Game Awards was streamed live to well over a million concurrent viewers across Twitch, YouTube, and various other streaming services. Just before the announcement, Oculus revealed that Asgard’s Wrath will be given away for free, for a limited time, to all new Oculus Rift S purchasers.
The full list of the Best VR/AR Game category nominees this year is as follows:
- Asgard’s Wrath (Sanzaru Games/Oculus Studios)
- Blood & Truth (SIE London Studio/SIE)
- Beat Saber (Beat Games)
- No Man’s Sky (Hello Games)
- Trover Saves the Universe (Squanch Games)
