The Big Releases

Archangel, from Skydance Studios
Price: $29.99 (Rift)

Released on PSVR two weeks back, Archangel now makes its way over to PC VR systems. It’s an on-rails first-person shooter in which you command a giant mech, blowing up an enemy army with big explosions.

Recommendation: Archangel’s fun gameplay is too often interrupted by its generic story, but it’s still worthwhile.

Gunheart, from Drifter Entertainment
Price: $34.99 (Rift)

Looking for an imaginative new shooter for your Rift? Gunheart delivers, taking you to a strange alien planet to blast hundreds upon hundreds of bug-like enemies. It’s only an early access release but we see some potential so far.

Recommendation: This is one early access release that it might be worth getting in on the ground floor with.

Rangi, from Digigo
Price: $9.99 (Rift)

You might remember seeing Rangi on Gear VR earlier this year, but now it’s on Rift with Touch support. Solve puzzles and navigate traps in this visually appealing adventure.

Recommendation: Definitely worthwhile for puzzle fans.

They Live to DESTROY! from High Voltage Software
Price: Free (Gear)

Dragon Front developer High Voltage returns with this fun free Gear game. Create your own metropolis and control monsters to challenge others that come to destroy what you’ve made. Raid the opponents and dominate the world. All in a day’s work.

Recommendation: It’s free. Grab it.

Edinburgh 70, from BBC
Price: Free (Gear)

Every August the city of Edinburgh hosts one of the biggest festivals in the world celebrating the arts. In celebration of its 70th anniversary, the BBC has created this taster app with its own unique style. Check it out.

Recommendation: Another free app not to miss.

Mars 2030, from FMG Labs
Price: $14.99

Yet another chance to explore the red planet in VR. Mars 2030 is designed to let us get a taste of the first manned mission to Mars years before it actually happens. Explore 40 square kilometers of open terrain with realistic Mars weather and more.

Recommendation: One for the explorers among us.

Gravity Sketch VR, from Gravity Sketch
Price: $29.99

A brand new VR creation app that focuses more on professional 3D content creation. Gravity Sketch has a set of incredibly helpful tools that enable you to make accurate, visually appealing 3D models.

Recommendation: If you like to make stuff in VR then give it a go.
