We’ve already seen one VR experience tying into the recently-released Blade Runner 2049 on Gear VR, but next week will see another new piece launch on Oculus Rift.
Blade Runner: Memory Lab is on display at Oculus Connect 4 this week and will be launching for free on October 19th with a Gear version following on October 26th. It’s developed by LA-based studio Magnopus and uses the Touch controllers on Rift. It was filmed using Microsoft’s Holographic capture rig, which reporter on the ground Ian Hamilton says produced very real looking characters. You can see for yourself in the trailer below.
Based on the clip, the story will take inspiration from 2049 and even visit some of the new locations seen in the new movie.
Oculus first announced a partnership to produce content around Blade Runner 2049 at last year’s Connect.
