Boneworks Dev Says '90% Chance' Team Supports PSVR 2 Controllers

Last week’s reveal of new controllers for Sony’s upcoming PS5 VR headset was met with cautious optimism from fans and developers alike, including one notable studio yet to make a game for PSVR.

Stress Level Zero’s Brandon J Laatsch spoke about the new devices on Twitter, noting that they looked “well designed” and a big improvement over the Move controllers. “Need to get our hands on to make the call, but just by looking at them I’d say there is a 90% chance we support them,” Laatsch said.

Boneworks PSVR 2 Could Happen

Could that mean we’ll see a Boneworks PSVR port on the new headset? Boneworks is one of the best PC VR games that never made it to PSVR alongside with a handful of other titles like Half-Life: Alyx. As Laatsch says in his tweet, the Move controllers, with their limited tracking and problematic button layouts, were one major reason for this. But it’s also true that the PS4 itself isn’t as powerful as VR-ready PCs, which means lots of ports are subject to compromises.

As Laatsch notes, though, this won’t be a problem on PS5: “PS5 is already above the min spec PC that delivers a good time in Boneworks. The SSD is a godsend too.”

It sounds like we could well see a Boneworks PSVR 2 port in the future, then, if not other Stress Level Zero projects. We know that the team is working on a new title in the Boneworks universe that’s set to come to Quest and PC VR, and the team has promised to share more about its upcoming projects this year. PSVR 2 itself won’t be releasing in 2021, but given that developers kits are now going out we’re hoping we’ll learn more concrete details about the device in the near future.
