Breaking Fourth’s Ctrl remains one of our favorite VR productions and, this week, the studio has much more to share.
The team’s three latest projects are now available via the Samsung VR app, meaning you can either watch them in the Gear VR or on a browser of your choice (we’ve got them all embedded below). While the company’s first piece saw it deal with some fairly dramatic subjects, these new experiences see it branch out a little.
The first piece is one you may be familiar with – Utopia 6. I got the chance to watch this one a little earlier this year and I was quite fond of it; it takes you on a tour of a dystopian city in a post-apocalyptic world, but cleverly shines a spotlight on the cracked psyches of its occupants. It’s definitely worth the 10 minutes it takes to watch and it’s the closest you’ll get to Ctrl out of this trio.
Next up is Opinions, an intriguing musical piece that stars cabaret act Bourgeois & Maurice. It’s a commentary on one of the many aspects of social media, and how online platforms allow just about everyone to say what they think of just about any topic. But is that really such a good thing? These two have a unique way of exploring that subject.
Finally, Breaking Fourth is trying its hands at comedy with Bro Bots, a buddy-cop piece in which two British robots go on adventures joining the New York Police Department.
All-in-all we have three very different and interesting experiences here. They’re all three to watch and all explore different ways of VR storytelling, we check them out.
