From Super Mario 64 to Crash Bandicoot, this was an era where the mascot truly ruled the videogame landscape, and few developers created memorable characters like Rare. Banjo-Kazooie remains a fan favorite game even two decades on, and it shows with this week’s release of Yooka-Laylee. This nostalgic platformer from former members of Rare keeps the genre alive with a fitting love letter for fans that has them hopping over chasms and hunting down every last collectible.
