'Day of the Devs' Annual Public Indie Game Festival Is Coming to San Francisco For Free

The gaming community has a knack for bringing like-minded inviduals together in celebrations of video games. Whether it the the long-running PAX expos, the massive E3 event, GDC, GaymerX, or any of the other conventions and festivals around the world, hanging out with friends while surrounded by games is never a bad time. Unfortunately, cost and access is a big barrier to entry for a lot of people.

Even if you live in Seattle, buying tickets to PAX West can be expensvie and if you live in Los Angeles, you still need to be part of the industry to even gain access to events like E3. Luckily, big, free, festivals are getting more traction lately and the 4th annual Day of the Devs is great proof to that point.

Double Fine, the lauded game studio behind cult classics such as Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, is teaming up with iam8bit, creators of unique video game merchandise, for the event. It takes place over the course of a single day on Saturday, November 5th, at The Midway on 900 Marin St. in San Francisco, CA. Day of the Devs is 100% free for anyone to attend. There will be over 40 games to demo, live music, food, and more.

The list of games is jam-packed with great upcoming indie titles, such as the massively popular Kickstarter success story Yooka-Laylee, which is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie from the original creators, Overland, The Church in the Darkness, and many more.

And luckily, there will be a handful of unreleased VR titles on display as well. So far from the list, we noticed:

  • Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin, available on PS VR
  • Lost Ember, available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Oculus Rift, Vive
  • Statik, available on PS VR
  • Luna, available on PC, Oculus Rift
  • Rock Band VR, available on Oculus Rift

As stated, Day of the Devs is next month on November 5th in San Francisco. You can RSVP and find more information over at the official website.
