Update: The 360-video is now live. You can watch it here on YouTube or access it via other formats on the official website.
Original Story from 7/6/17: It’s safe to say that Christopher Nolan has one of the best track records in all of Hollywood. His IMDB page reads like a greatest hits of cerebral thrillers and thought-provoking action films with the likes of The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Memento, Interstellar, The Prestige, and several others in his catalog. Soon Dunkirk, a new World War II (WWII) period film will release as the latest movie with Nolan at the helm once again.
As is customary these days, Dunkirk is also getting its own brief VR experience soon as well. Supposedly titled “Save Every Breath” the short experience promises to take viewers inside the horrors and intensity of WWII like never before with the power of VR. The quick teaser embedded below doesn’t actually seem to tell us very much about what the experience is about, but it’s probably safe to say it will have a lot of action and end on an epic cliffhanger.
Interestingly, despite pop culture’s obsession with the era in film and gaming, we haven’t actually seen a whole lot of historical WWII-themed content in VR. But with Dunkirk releasing soon and both Call of Duty: WWII set to release this year to bring the franchise back to its root, as well as the upcoming Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus on the horizon, we could be entering a new age of Nazi-killing appreciation.
Dunkirk’s VR experience is set to launch tomorrow on 7/7 (ahead of the movie’s 7/21 release date) with access at YouTube 360, Facebook 360, and most major headset platforms. You can find out more on the official Dunkirk VR website portal.
