Espire 1: VR Operative aims to be the definitive experience for stealth VR gaming. Featuring gameplay mechanics for both the stealth and action genres that have yet to be fully explored in the space, Espire 1: VR Operative blends an intuitive VR control system and cutting-edge technology to give players a next-level stealth VR experience.
Espire 1: VR Operative boasts a complete single-player story that features individual story missions as well as scenario missions that use the story environments for scenario-based challenges. During its showing at E3 2019, UploadVR named Espire 1 its Best of Show VR game, calling it “a smooth, exciting VR game that innovates not only in terms of building a stealth shooter for VR, but also in terms of comfort options for players.”
As a stealth agent, you’ll be going up against enemy combatants that actively hunt players down. These agents not only respond to sight, sound, and other stimuli, but can sense player’s physical stances, movement speed, cover, and relative location, all in an effort to provide players with a realistic stealth experience. Players jumping into the world of Espire 1 will also find a large arsenal of weapons and gadgets, including access to dozens of unique gadgets and weapons, such as a tranquilizer pistol and deployable spy cameras.
When it comes to modern virtual reality, one of the biggest concerns players have is the threat of motion sickness. Espire 1 includes a number of design considerations built to eliminate this as you assume the role of an “Espire Agent” with the ability to operate an in-game drone in the Control Theatre. The Control Theatre acts as a way to combat motion sickness first-time VR players might feel. Any time a player performs any kind of artificial locomotion, the game world shrinks down to the size of a floating tablet with the Control Theatre visible in the player’s peripheral vision.
This “VR within VR” system allows players to not only have precise, full freedom movement while maintaining immersion, but it also should eliminate any “motion sickness” feeling that players may have. Not only is the Control Theatre fully customizable to suit a range of comfort levels, but you can also disable it if you’re already comfortable moving in VR.
From the ground up, Espire 1 is built around the idea that physically crouching, entering cover, and more can be done by simply using your body rather than learning a dizzying amount of controls. Espire 1: VR Operative is currently targeting a Fall 2019 release date, and will launch on PC VR, Oculus Quest, and PSVR.
To celebrate the launch Tripwire has a couple of special promotions in place. On Steam when you purchase Espire 1: VR Operative you’ll receive a free Steam copy of Killing Floor: Incursion until Nov. 26, 2019. And on the Oculus Store, customers buying Espire 1: VR Operative from Nov. 22, 2019 through Nov. 26, 2019 will also receive a free Oculus copy of Killing Floor: Incursion as part of a special launch bundle! Espire 1: VR Operative also supports Cross-Buy for Oculus.
