With launches on both PlayStation VR and HTC Vive, it’s been a busy few months for EVE: Valkyrie, and there’s yet more new content today.
Developer CCP Games released the Gatecrash update across all versions of the game. Headlining the release is a new map, Gateway, which you can see in a trailer below. This time around you’ll clash with enemy pilots in ice asteroid fields and even use warp points to jump from one end of the map to the other, a first for the game. It’s the second new map to be added to the game for free since the game’s launch in March.
Next up is pilot customization. This allows players to personalize their appearance from a selection of helmets and suits that can be purchased with in-game currency. It’s a nice addition, though you probably won’t be checking out your enemy’s fashion sense while you’re trying to blow them to pieces.
PlayStation 4 Pro owners will also be happy to learn that Gatecrash adds support for the upgraded console. Players can expect increased resolutions, the addition of dynamic shadows, improved particle effects and improved load times inside PS VR. CCP have also stated that more PS4 Pro enhancements will arrive in future updates. We’ve reached out for more details and we’ll let you know if we hear anything back.
You can expect more updates for Valkyrie in 2017, though we’re also looking forward to new projects from CCP Games too. Shooter sequel Gunjack 2: End of Shift should be hitting Google’s Daydream platform before the end of the year, and Tron-esque multiplayer sports game Project Arena is still in need for a full name and release date. EVE Fanfest, CCP’s annual celebration of all things EVE, is a little under five months away now, so you can expect updates on all of the company’s projects then.
