Welcome true believers! Hindsight VR is releasing a virtual reality experience starring none other than Stan Lee himself at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Hindsight VR is a new mobile application that describes itself as a “distribution portal for top quality virtual reality content and experiences,” not unlike Jaunt, NextVR or Samsung VR. Hindsight VR is available for download on iOS today but the real kicker is coming during this week’s San Diego Comic-Con, during which Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders is being released.
Cosmic Crusaders follows Lee, who has come down with a case of “writer’s block,” and then meets seven aliens with superpowers who crash-landed. The only catch is, they can only use those powers in their homeland. “Lee offers sanctuary to the aliens and puts them through superhero training, helping them learn how to access their powers on Earth,” according to official descriptions.
As anyone who has ever been a comic reader can tell you, Stan Lee is the superhero creating, sunglasses wearing, catchphrase shouting grandpa we all wish we had. The former president and chairman of Marvel Comics, Lee is the creative force behind many beloved characters including: Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, and The X-Men.
You may recognize his face from shows such as Stan Lee’s Superhumans, or his voice from such nostalgic throwbacks as Spider-Man: The Animated Series (for those that don’t remember, this iconic Saturday morning cartoon actually concluded with a universe-hopping Spider-Man meeting and praising a buffed out version of the famous creator.)
According to Lee this is will be his final Comic-Con appearance and, as such, it will be nice to have Cosmic Crusaders available to help us all so that we can feel close to this widely beloved personality between his Marvel movie cameos.
