I Expect You To Die's Free New Level Detailed Ahead Of October Launch

Schell Games’ I Expect You To Die has made more than $1 million in revenue for the company, and new content is on the way soon.

This week the developer announced a free new level that will be hitting all versions of the VR title in October. In this new level you’ll find yourself aboard an exotic train in the first class cabin. You’re there to take a bit of a break from your usual secret agent sleuthing but, this being an I Expect You To Die level, that might not go entirely to plan. You should expect, well, to die quite a bit.

“The response to IEYTD has been overwhelmingly positive,” Design Director Shawn Patton said of the decision to add more content over on the PlayStation Blog. “We have seen many excellent reviews of the game, but some reviewers mention how four levels doesn’t feel like enough content. We understand this issue is the game’s biggest weakness, and frankly, we feel like it’s a good problem to have. In the end, however, we knew we had to address it.”

There’s no new trailer yet (it’s best not to spoil the experience), but we do have a handful of new images seen in this post.

The new level has been in the works since mid-April. If you’re not familiar with the game, it’s essentially a trial-and-error puzzle game in which you explore environments using motion controllers, uncovering traps and surviving surprise attacks. We quite liked it when it launched back in 2016, and a version for Microsoft’s new VR headsets is expected to arrive soon. It joins the existing versions for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR.

Look for the update to hit on October 24th.
