Fallout 4 VR Review And Skyrim Comparisons: The 5 Biggest Stories In VR This Week

Missed out on all the week’s biggest VR news? Where have you been, Mars? Oh, actually I guess that’s quite possible. Well, either way, we’ve got you covered with our round up of the biggest stories in VR over the past five days.

Our Verdict On Fallout 4 VR…

Unsurprisingly, it was our full review of Bethesda’s Fallout 4 VR that got the most eyeballs this week. After a great port of Skyrim and a middling Doom spin-off, did Bethesda end the year on a high note? Sort of; it’s amazing to have all of Fallout 4 in VR, but some technical issues with the port drag it down a little.

…And How To Play It On Rift

The second biggest question of the week was is Fallout 4 VR would work on the Oculus Rift, after some confusion with Doom VFR running on the headset. Turns out it does, it’s just that the controls are a little odd and you have to uninstall the SteamVR beta and be running a stable build to proceed past the intro.

Fallout 4 Vs Skyrim VR – Who Wins?

Continuing on with Fallout 4, we had to ask the obvious question: does it top Skyrim VR? We took an in-depth look at both ports and decided, despite running on the lower-powered PS4 console, Skyrim was indeed the better port. That speaks to just how good of a job Bethesda did porting the game over.

Hands-On With Wipeout VR

It’s not all about Bethesda, though. PSVR support is coming to Wipeout on PlayStation 4, and that’s a very big deal. We went hands-on with the game at this year’s PlayStation Experience and, instead of throwing up, we actually fell in love. Look for this free update to hit Wipeout: Omega Collection sometime next year.

Resident Evil 7’s New DLC Impressions

And, finally, we’ve got a look at the new content for Capcom’s Resident Evil 7, which arrived this week. A free add-on called Not A Hero is the highlight of the package, letting you play as Chris Redfield on the hunt for Lucas Baker. You can find this as part of the new Gold Edition that launched this week too.
