Neat Corp’s laid-back gardening sim, Garden of the Sea, is moving out of early access and onto Quest and SteamVR proper in 2022.
The developer stopped by today’s Upload VR Showcase to confirm the news. The standalone version of the game will be launching along with the fully-grown PC VR version early next year. Check out two minutes of new gameplay features in the video below.
Garden of the Sea Gameplay
Garden of the Sea has always felt like a mix between Harvest Moon and Pokemon, allowing you to explore islands filled with cutesy creatures, craft new gear and grow new plants. We actually revealed the game at the first-ever Upload VR Showcase all the way back at E3 2019, and it’s been in early access ever since.
One of the game’s most interesting features is its ‘Living Music’, which tailors the soundtrack based on the player’s actions. The new trailer, meanwhile, gives us a look at some of the game’s different islands and characters, including some mysterious figures that we’ll be interested to see arrive in the story.
Neat is of course known for its Budget Cuts series, which focuses on physical VR stealth. The series’ last entry was 2019’s Budget Cuts 2, which was made in partnership with Fast Travel Games, a team that also made an appearance at today’s showcase.
