Justin Roiland and Tanya Watson founding Squanch Games together may be the best thing to happen to people that like laughing in VR since Butts: The VR Experience from Tyler Hurd. What I mean to say is that Squanch is full of hilarious people that make hilarious games and we can’t wait to see more. Thankfully, more isn’t too far away.
At GDC today, Google and Squanch Games announced a brand new partnership that will result in a slew of small, experimental VR titles exclusively for the Daydream platform. The first title in that batch is Dr. Splorchy Presents: Space Heroes.
We still don’t know much of anything about the game other than it’s guaranteed to make you laugh if you enjoy things that are funny, but according to a press release quoting Dr. Splorchy himself, his experiments are:
“So beyond the capability of your understanding that if I were to try to explain them to your primitive earth mind I would have to rip out most of your brain and replace it with a computer so powerful it hasn’t even been invented yet, so no, I will not send you a blurb for your stupid press release.”
Sounds like a nice, humble scientist.
The game will be playable at Google’s booth here at GDC in San Francisco and there’s a website up and running already as well as a Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook page, so people can follow along with Dr. Splorchy’s many adventures. Space Heroes will be a Daydream exclusive, and the first of several experimental games, but it does not currently have a release date.
Let us know what you think of the game so far down in the comments below!
