Gorn's Hilarious Giant Mode Turns You Into An Enormous God Of Death

As if Gorn’s usual brand of skull breaking and sword slashing wasn’t enough of a guilty pleasure, the game’s Experimental branch reveals yet more options for you to toy with your enemies with.

If you right click on Gorn in your Steam library, hit properties and then click on the Betas tab, you’ll be able to switch to the Experimental build. Take note of the name; it’s quite possible you’ll encounter some glitches and bugs as you sample this mode, but it comes with the perk of testing out new features before developer Free Lives puts them public. You’ll have to work for them, though, as I racked up some 56 kills in Endless Mode to unlock what’s known as the Custom Basement (I hear that 30 kills the is the target, though).

This basement gives you all the options you could ever want to play with in a Gorn match, including increased blood, lowered (or increased) gravity, and even the option to add in a vicious badger that sinks its teeth into enemies and doesn’t let go. There’s also the option to increase your size during matches, turning yourself into an enormous giant that can toy around with opponents with ease. Take a look at the six minutes of footage I captured to see what I mean.

It’s safe to say this is one of the bloodiest and most violent ways to enjoy Gorn, but that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? It’s conflictingly cutesy and malicious to pick up a tiny bow and arrow and then sending it flying so fast it takes out bad guys with one hit.

Unlocking the Custom Basement might require all of your strength and energy, but trust me when I say it’s worth it. Here’s hoping for new weapons and features soon.
