Gran Turismo Sport's PSVR Mode May Get Time Trials But Not Multiplayer

Sony’s racing sim champion, Gran Turismo Sport, offers some of the most immersive, realistic gameplay inside of PlayStation VR (PSVR), there just sadly isn’t much of it. But a much-requested feature may arrive in VR at some point.

In an interview with Game Watch, Polyphony Digital’s Kazunori Yamauchi noted that he was “planning to make time trails possible in VR mode” somewhere down the line (that is according to a Google translation). Currently, VR Tour only allows players to race one other AI car in any of the game’s vehicles and on any of its tracks, but there’s not much else to do inside VR at this point in time. A time trial mode could at least let perfectionists hunt for the best lap times inside the headset.

Sadly, Yamauchi also noted that there were no plans for multiplayer in VR at the moment.

Last week GT Sport got a free update that added in several new cars and a new track that could be accessed within VR. It seems that, even if we might not get many new features for the VR Tour mode, we’ll at least get a steady supply of new vehicles and locations to experience within it.
