Here's A First Look At Street Fighter II's Brilliant Bonus Stage VR App

Earlier this week we reported that Street Fighter II was getting an official VR app that paid tribute to a classic bonus stage in the game. Now, we’ve got the first footage of the app in action.

The below video from Red Bull and Visual Noise Creative shows off a brilliantly silly tribute to Street Fighter II’s classic bonus stage, in which players have to reduce a car to pieces as quickly as possible. Running on the HTC Vive, players will get to select one of several classic characters from the game and then pound their fists on the unsuspecting vehicle.

It doesn’t look especially deep but it is pretty darn funny, and we especially like how the player’s arms will feature iconic parts of their chosen character’s costumes, like Chun-Li’s spiked wristbands or Ryu and Ken’s hand wraps. The app also uses the Vive Trackers, so you’ll be able to kick as well as punch.

The experience will be on display at this weekend’s North American Street Fighter V finals in Boston. Attendees that play will also be competing for a chance to win a Vive or a custom Street Fighter arcade cabinet. Sadly, there’s no word on an official release for the app.
