HTC Vive Accessories Are On Sale and As Expensive As You'd Think

Last month we reported on the leak of an HTC product page that suggested the option to buy accessories for the HTC Vive was incoming. Today, that option is finally available.

The HTC Vive Accessories store is now available from an official website, though its offerings differ vastly between regions. The UK and other European territories, for example, has a pretty good stock of items. You can get an extra controller or Lighthouse base station, as well as a 3-in-1 cable, different sets of face cushions, a link box, nose rest, and USB extension cable from the store. Oddly, the US version of the store only offers a set of two face cushions, a nose rest and the USB extender right now.

We’re sure other items will come to the page in the coming weeks and months. Each was listed in last month’s leak so there’s no reason to think otherwise. There’s also a complete absence of Vive compatible headphones right now, despite them being pictured and named at the top of the page. Outside of the headphones, these items are largely just replacements or components that come with the Vive itself, giving you options if you manage to break a controller or simply want another pair to swap out with when they’re charging.

Pricing wise, these items are about as expensive as you’d expect given the Vive’s already high $799 tag. In the UK, a base station unit costs £121.99 (about $164) and a controller will set you back £116.99 (about $157). That last price is interesting to note; it’s just for one controller thus a set of two would be around $300. Could we expect to pay something similar for Oculus Rift’s positional controllers, Oculus Touch, when they arrive later this year?

Those prices are different from the prices listed in the US leak, though, so it’s possible that they’ll be cheaper when they finally do appear there.

You can still get the whole set along with a Vive in just a matter of days of course, as HTC recently pledged to start shipping all new orders within 72 hours of ordering.
