Harmonix's Karaoke Game SingSpace Releases Today for Gear VR

Back at Oculus Connect 3 we had the chance to go hands-on with SingSpace from Harmonix for the very first time and while no one on the UploadVR team has much of a singing voice (save for perhaps Tal Blevins, our Editor-in-Chief) we had a blast all the same. Today, the game has officially launched for Samsung Gear VR and can be purchased from the Oculus Home store for $4.99.

Check out the launch trailer above at the top of this post or the gameplay video embedded below:

Nowadays Harmonix is best known for its Rock Band franchise — of which the VR iteration recently launched — but the studio has much deeper and far-reaching music game experience as well, stretching to projects such as Amplitude and the Karaoke Revolution franchise.

Part of the embarrassment that comes from singing karaoke outside of VR is all the pressure of people watching, but when a headset is strapped on your face you don’t need to worry about that as much. This time, you just have to deal with the fact that people can hear you singing without the actual music over the top to mask your voice a bit. I guess that’s kind of worse, in a way.

For more information you can read the Oculus blog post here about the game’s release.
