Lone Echo Gets More Detailed Environments, New Gadgets In Atlas Update

Usually, it’s Ready at Dawn’s other sci-fi VR epic, the multiplayer Echo Arena, that’s getting the updates but this week the team’s single-player adventure, Lone Echo is getting a few tweaks of its own.

Actually, if you have the PC for it, the Lone Echo Atlas Patch is pretty significant. Basically, it provides a new high-performance mode for high-end CPUs that makes the game world a touch more convincing and immersive, as you can see in the video below.

With this new mode enabled, players will find environments much more detailed with new props for them to tinker with. Exploring Lone Echo’s insanely layered environments is one of the joys of the game, so it will be well worth players jumping back in for this feature alone. Not only that but there’s a brand new Tractor Device that streamlines the gameplay a little bit; it’s a gun-shaped gadget that pulls in a group of objects and can then fire them off too; perfect for grabbing hard-to-reach batteries or clearing out a cluttered space.

Finally on the performance end, ragdoll physics have been added to the robotic husks that the player leaves behind every time they die. You can throw them across zero gravity with much more realistic (and morbid) results.

On top of the performance updates, which are enabled with the ‘CPU Intensive Features’ in the settings, Lone Echo also adds support for the German, Spanish and French languages so even more people can enjoy the game as naturally as possible. We strongly recommend jumping in; Lone Echo was awarded Upload VR’s 2017 Game of the Year award.

Next up, Ready at Dawn is working on an expansion to Echo Arena named Echo Combat and is also getting started with the next chapter of the Lone Echo story, whatever that may be.
