Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix attendees can meet Lewis Hamilton in VR, thanks to the Mercedes-AMG and Qualcomm's 'VIP Garage Tour.'
Revealed today during the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, the news marks the latest collaboration following last year's partnership announcement. "Racing fans will experience Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff in VR, with Hamilton acting as your virtual tour guide through the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team garage," Qualcomm confirmed in a press release.
Built using the Snapdragon Spaces developer platform by Trigger XR, the VIP Garage Tour uses the enterprise Lenovo VRX headset. However, Qualcomm tells UploadVR that the experience isn't currently running on other VR headsets and access is limited to those attending this weekend's Grand Prix.
Elsewhere, F1 23 on PC VR is also celebrating the Grand Prix with a free weekend until November 20. In our recommended review, we believed it offered some "welcome additions" and more reliable performance over F1 22, though we thought VR support "remains rough around the edges" while criticizing the story mode.
