MSI will announce the winners of its “Leading VR Experience” competition tomorrow. The overall winner will take home the lion’s share of an $80,000 prize pool as well as several other electronics and accolades.

According to the company they received over 600 applications for the MSI VR Jam and those entries have now been whittled down to a top 20. The champion of these will be announced on December 28 and that team will win $30,000. The second and third place teams will take home $25,000 and $15,000 respectively. In addition to the cash, winners will be awarded, “high-end hardware products such as the newest MSI GP62M VR gaming laptop, Aegis gaming desktop, Intel X99 motherboard, and GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR 8G OC graphics card, as well as software license of Unity Plus as sponsored by Unity.”
The competition is being judged by MSI’s global marketing director Sam Chern, Futuretown founder and CEO, Johan Yang, Unity’s Kevin Lo and WEARVR’s COO, Andrew Douthwaite. MSI contest winners will also be flown to Taipei in January for an official awards ceremony and to participate in the VR Forum Summit.
The criteria the judges will use is as follows:

Overall VR Entertainment & Experience (40%)
Fun factor, interaction, engagement and immersion.
Innovation in VR Mechanics (30%)
Creative uses of VR mechanics.
VR HMD: Oculus Rift or HTC Vive compatibility is a must.3
Optimization for MSI VR-Ready products. (20%)
