New HTC Vive Releases For The Week Of 02/19/17

by Charles Singletary • February 24th, 2017

It’s a new week and we have quite a few highlights that you should be aware of as you add a few more titles to your Vive ecosystem. Housekeeping VR is the biggest standout of the bunch, bringing 80s arcade flair to virtual reality as you completely destroy luxurious apartments with a collection of tools and weapons. Nature Treks goes the complete opposite end of the scale. In it, you journey into one of 8 environments built to elicit an emotional state depending on different colors. Paulo’s Wing is an interesting action title made entirely through Tilt Brush that has you defending heaven’s gates from demons. Lastly, Stolen Steel is a visceral fencing game that is solid in its early stages and could inspire a more fleshed out game built around it’s addictive combat.

In the meantime, if you missed last week, you can see those new releases here. And don’t forget that UploadVR has a Steam community group, complete with a curated list of recommendations so that you don’t have to waste any money finding out what’s good in the world of VR.

We also have a top list of the absolute best HTC Vive games — which is updated every few months with the latest and greatest options.

Price: $9.99

Cut Cut Buffet is a sword simulator where you cut your way through the kitchen of an immersive restaurant environment. The game includes 3 game modes with 2 difficulties for each. More content will be added throughout Early Access.

Lost in the Ocean VR, from Tunnel Vision Studio

In Lost in the Ocean you take on the role of a man shipwrecked on an island and you must manage your vitals to survive. Search for resources to keep yourself alive and also craft tools as you work toward building a raft to escape your prison in paradise.

Recommendation: Pretty solid concept. Grab it if you’re into survival games or even want a bit more from an escape the room style experiences.

Zombie in my city, from SkyKan

This game aims to thrill as it drops you into the middle of a low poly zombie apocalypse. You’ll tackle a handful of game modes and missions as you utilize realistic weapon handling with over 42 items.

Nature Treks VR, from John Carline

Nature Treks is an experience that is making a transition into VR as it was originally intended. Choose from a collection of 8 peaceful environments with over 250 points of interest as you escape the real world. Nevrosa: Prelude is a brooding and tense escape the room experience with room scale functionality. You wake up in a strange place and you’re not sure if it’s reality or a dream, but it’s clear you need to learn more about your surroundings.

Skills Hockey VR, from Justin Jimmo

Price: $1.99

In Skills Hockey you’ll be able to test your skills on the ice as you shoot pucks, play goalie, and check your AI opponent. There’s also a street hockey mode with a bit more freedom.

Recommendation: Pass on this one for now. Not a great example of hockey gameplay.

Unforgiven VR, from Delirium Studios

Price: $4.99

Unforgiven VR challenges you to become the best duelist in the west. You’re able to train with different challenges before dueling, earning yourself a nickname based on your style of play, and raising up the reward that’s on your head.

Recommendation: Definitely grab it at this price. Has potential to get even better throughout Early Access.

Paulo’s Wing, from Angry Array

Price: $14.99

Paulo’s Wing is an interesting title made entirely through Tilt Brush. In it, you play as the last able cherub and you’re tasked with defending heaven’s gate from demons. Recommendation: Very unique in execution. Grab this one on sale when you can, our review is coming soon.

In Space Fist, you play as a warrior in a world in which you’re vying to be selected as a champion against forces of evil. Unfortunately, the main character’s sister is trapped within the game by a hacker and you enter alone to save her.

For 9.99 I would give MixCast VR Studio a shot. I love Mixed reality.
But it is 9.99 a month. Auch that price difference hurts my wallet to much.
