New PlayStation VR Releases For The Week Of 10/16/16

New PlayStation VR Releases For The Week Of 10/16/16

It’s week two of PlayStation VR! But…there’s not much to talk about. In fact, for both EU and US owners there’s just a small cup of new title to talk about this week, not even a full handful. In fairness you’re probably still busy playing with all the games that arrived at launch, and Sony is still trying to ship headsets out to as many people as possible. It’s a light week, but that just means more time to blast away enemies in Rigs or top the charts of your favorite courses on Driveclub VR.

In the meantime, if you missed last week, you can see those new releases here. Also, UploadVR just launched the ‘UploadVR PS VR Community’ on PlayStation 4! Join up, find other gamers to play with, and engage in discussions.

Pixel Gear, from Oasis Games
Price: $10.99 (Currently Discounted, PlayStation Move required)

We have to write the price in GBP because it looks like Pixel Gear isn’t actually out in the US yet, hopefully this doesn’t turn into much of a problem. Anyway, this is a harmless wave-based shooter in which you use a single Move controller to aim weapons and mow down enemies in a Minecraft-esque world. Points systems and bosses help to add some competitivness to the proceedings, but there’s not much to it.

Recommendation: The Brookhaven Experiment is a much better wave shooter, there’s not much worth seeing here.

Sports Bar VR, from Cherry Pop Games
Price: $19.99 (PlayStation Move required)

Released in the EU last week but now available in the US. What’s known as Pool Nation VR on HTC Vive comes to PlayStation VR for launch and holds up surprisingly well. Use the Move controllers to play various minigames with friends or just trash the sandbox environment.

Recommendation: Definitely one to get if you have friends to hang out with in VR.
