OC5: Oculus Rolling Out New Rift Platform Today

The next Oculus Rift platform update is rolling out today.

The company revealed the update at its Oculus Connect 5 conference today. Hundreds of new customization options are being added to Oculus Home in this update, including items made by developers. That means quill from Moss can now join you in your Home.

Crucially, you can now invite friends to Home, too. Users can cast their virtual screens into the world so that you can watch video together too.

In terms of avatars, there’s new items to adorn and, later this year, there will be expressive avatars too. These allow avatars to make eye contact and use simulated microexpressions to hint at emotions.

Also launching today is Rift support for the Oculus Mobile app. This allows Rift fans to connect with friends and remote install titles to your PC.
