Most VR headsets can still be worn with a pair of glasses on, but it’s fair to say it’s not always the most comfortable experience. VirtuClear is looking to address that issue on the latest VR headset to hit the market, Oculus Go.
As you probably know by now, Facebook launched Go at its F8 developer conference yesterday. The kit is designed to be an accessible all-in-one VR device starting at just $199. To make it even more accessible for those that need glasses, though, VirtuClear offers custom prescription lenses. Available from Frames Direct, these lenses are only available for prescriptions in certain ranges but feature anti-reflective coating to reduce glare.
To insert the lenses you’ll just need to strip back a few parts on your Go then add them on. The video below shows you how to do it. To buy one, you’ll also need to provide a pupillary distance measurement, which is essentially just the distance between your eyes.
If you had any worry that these might not be the real deal, it’s worth noting that Oculus endorses VirtuClear by featuring them in the accessories section of Go’s new website. It’s interesting to see the company embrace third-party add-ons for its hardware given that it typically hasn’t done this for its other headsets such as the Oculus Rift. A pair of lens inserts costs $79.99 and Oculus says more accessories will be coming to Go soon.
