The Oculus Fall Sale Is Here With Big Discounts on 'Chronos,' 'Windlands' And More

Autumn is traditionally a time of unrestrained excess in the video game world. Major publishers begin unleashing some of the year’s most anticipated titles, hours are lost in digital dungeons, battlefields, and sports arenas as gamers around the world delight in their treasures. On top of all that there’s the sales. Oh the sales. The Oculus Fall sale is just the latest.

Paralyzed by indecision is given new meaning as titles that were once $30, $40 or even $60 see their price tags plummeting downward. Virtual reality gaming is now officially here and the new medium is no exception to the wonderful tradition of fall discounts.

Now, we’re specifically seeing the launch of the Oculus Fall sale for its Oculus Rift and Gear VR platforms this week until September, 20th. Here are all the ways you’ll be wasting your life from here on out.

Windlands (Oculus Rift): $19.99 – $15.99

Windlands

Shut up. Stop reading. Stop thinking. Stop breathing (but just for a little while, safety first people.) If you own an Oculus Rift and have not played Windlands yet then forget Mexico, I want Donald Trump to build a wall around you.

This is the second major sale for a game that also recently got a terrific new update. This is the closest we’ve ever been to a Spider-Man VR game, and it’s one of my favorite VR titles hands down. If you need more than that to buy a game then I must respectfully ask you to get behind your wall – #MakeVRGreatAgain.

Chronos (Oculus Rift): $49.99 – $33.49

This is one of the biggest discount, dropping from $49.99. Chronos was one of the Oculus Rift’s most expensive launch titles and as a result, expectations were high. While it mostly delivered on its promise, there are still many waiting for a price drop before giving Chronos a chance.

Chronos is a third person VR dungeon crawler with a twist. Every time your character dies in the game (and you will die in the game), a year of time passes and he or she begins to age. You might start your Chronos journey as a strong young man, but you may end it as a wizened old man who needs to focus more on spell casting. The core mechanic is interesting, the combat is fun, and the puzzles will certainly force you to think. This sale makes Chronos more enticing than ever to those that have been waiting to draw their swords and join the adventure.

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (Gear VR): $9.99-$6.99

1_KeepTalking_Gameplay

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes remains one of the most fun multiplayer experiences you can have in a VR headset. One player sees a complicated bomb in front of them while the others have an instructional manual for its defusing. Hilarity ensues as the clock ticks down and both sides try to overcome their inability to see what their partners sees and shut the explosive down.

The fall sale puts Keep Talking in striking range of a party-night impulse buy. Grab some friends, pick this up, and have a great night trying not to get blasted into an early grave.
