Oculus Quest And Rift S Demo Stations Are Set Up At Best Buy

The Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift S VR headsets from Facebook are due out very soon. With F8 coming up this week, we should find out more regarding exact launch details. As of now all we know is Spring 2019 for both with each at a retail price of $399.

Over on Reddit, user Darkfire102 spotted a demo station at a local Best Buy (pictured above) that already has both the Oculus Quest and Rift S (along with an Oculus Go) setup with a pair of Touch controllers each. Back before the Oculus Touch controllers launched in December 2016 similar kiosks were setup in Best Buys as well.

The fact that Quest and Rift S are already visible at retail stores before a release date has even been confirmed is a really good sign for the stock of the product, presumably. Shipping delays plagued the original Rift launch for a while, so hopefully those issues aren’t repeated with two new headsets launching very close to one another.

We’ve been following both devices very closely. You can read our impressions of trying the Rift S at GDC here, as well as our updated impressions of the Oculus Quest from that same event. Later this year big budget VR games like Asgard’s Wrath and Stormland should play great on the Rift S, while Quest is getting a flood of highly-polished content that aims to shine on the more portable standalone device.

Hopefully we find out more details this week as F8 gets underway. The keynote begins at 10AM tomorrow (4/30/19) so stay tuned to UploadVR for all the latest details.

Update: To be clear, we do not know if any of the Best Buy stations are display-only or if they’re active demos.
