Paul McCartney VR Documentary Series Available Now Via Jaunt

Paul McCartney has achieved a very rare level of fame. The former Beatle is one of the few musicians of his, or any, generation that can consistently fill top-tier venues, and turn any project he touches into gold. Virtual reality is next industry in line to receive the Midas treatment from McCartney.

Jaunt, one of the most prolific VR content studios currently in operation, is announcing today that it will produce a six-part documentary series featuring none other than Paul McCartney himself entitled PURE McCartney VR.

The Beatles are arguable the most legendary musical act of all time and, as a result, documentaries revolving around the four mop-topped lads from Liverpool are far from rare. However, the Jaunt series is aiming to provide the most intimate look yet into McCartney’s life through immersive VR filmmaking techniques.

According to Jaunt, the PURE McCartney VR experience will include “not only high quality cinematic VR, but digitally remastered and spatially oriented ambisonic audio mixed in Dolby Atmos.”

This will also be “the first time an original Paul McCartney track has been remixed in Dolby Atmos.”

PURE McCartney VR ties into the career spanning PURE McCartney compilation album that is currently being produced by the titular artist. The documentary will offer fans the chance to explore the stories behind some of McCartney’s “most iconic tracks” while also providing them the opportunity to:

“Embark on a personal journey with Paul as he recounts memories and anecdotes related to various tracks, while sharing archived and never-before-seen footage. Filmed in his private home studio, the PURE McCartney VR episodes, which chronicle ‘Dance Tonight’, ‘Coming Up’, ‘My Valentine’,’Mull of Kintyre’ and ‘Early Days’, will be released episodically, starting today, and continuing through the PURE McCartney album release on June 10, 2016.”

The episodes themselves will be made available exclusively through the Jaunt VR application and, according to the company, “Each track will be released into the custom Paul McCartney world within the Jaunt VR App.”

Jaunt’s production team for this series includes the award-winning Director, Tony Kaye; Producer and Soundscape Architect Geoff Emerick; and Executive Producers Cliff Plumer, Lucas Wilson and Doug Allenstein.

Jaunt is available through most major VR devices including Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Desktop 360. The first two episodes of PURE McCartney VR are available now.
