Pico Space Pro Headset Spotted In Japanese Regulatory Filings

Images of ByteDance's upcoming headset, Pico Space Pro, have surfaced in Japanese regulatory filings.

Pico and TikTok owner ByteDance first mentioned the existence of its next headset during a presentation in November 2025, revealing some key specifications. The company then publicly teased the device back in March, calling it 'Project Swan'.

Pico said the headset will have micro-OLED panels with 4000 pixels per inch (PPI), a dual-chip architecture with a self-developed coprocessor for computer vision and image processing, and a new main processor that will have twice the CPU and GPU performance of the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 in today's Pico 4 Ultra and Meta Quest 3 headsets. It also detailed many of the visionOS-like features of Pico OS 6 and the RealityKit-like Pico Spatial Engine.

ByteDance’s Pico announced the key display and compute specs of its next headset, coming later this year, and detailed the revamped XR operating system it will run.

Pico simultaneously opened applications for a "Global Early Access Program" that provided closed beta access to Pico OS 6 and the Project Swan headset.

The company said it would choose "a select few with deep expertise across XR platforms" to join the program, and wanted "rigorous feedback" on the hardware and software before a wider release.

While the company showed a stylized silhouette of the headset, it did not show an actual image or render, nor did it give any details at all about the design.

Then, in June, videos depicting the design were found to be present in a public Pico SDK.

The Design Of Pico’s Next Headset Leaked Via SDK Videos
The design of Pico’s next headset leaked in videos from a public SDK, and it looks like a cross between Apple Vision Pro and Samsung Galaxy XR.

The clips showed a headset that is clearly inspired by both Apple Vision Pro and Samsung Galaxy XR, with a rear strap almost identical to the former's Solo Knit Band and a visor and forehead pad strongly resembling the latter. They also showed an external tethered puck.

In August, the company announced a launch event for the device via Asia-region social media channels, and also revealed the product name to be Pico Space Pro. However, just days later, the company abruptly announced the cancelation of the event, and noted that the device would be delayed to Q4 2026.

Then, in September, Pico Space Pro appeared to have received FCC certification the day before its originally planned launch event.

Pico Space Pro Appears To Receive FCC Certification Following Delay To Q4
A new Pico device, highly likely the upcoming Space Pro, received FCC certification following a delay to Q4. Filings reveal a tethered compute and battery puck.

The filings list a "Mixed Reality Computer", with separate entries for the headset and external tethered puck under FCC IDs 2A5NV-AA1Z0 and 2A5NV-B3110, respectively. Their labels describe the two components as a "Mixed Reality Headset" and a "Mixed Reality Main Unit", respectively, with B3110 as the model number for both.

Now, Japanese regulatory filings have surfaced with images that show the physical device.

The documents are listed under certification number 202-JWM032, and the device carries the same model number, B3110, as the US FCC filings. Its overall design matches the SDK renders, including the rear strap, visor, and forehead pad.

However, this unit's color scheme and finish differ from the SDK renders, instead resembling those of Vivo's Vision headset, an Apple Vision Pro competitor that was announced and demonstrated in 2025 but has yet to fully launch commercially.

The documents also include teardown images of the device, offering a look at its front camera and sensor array, optical modules, and a central cooling fan.

The filings do not show a direct look at the external tethered puck. However, a test-setup photo shows a camouflaged version of the headset on a desk, with a similarly camouflaged box-like object directly behind it.

It remains to be seen exactly when Pico Space Pro will launch, though the company says it is now targeting Q4 2026. The short-term confidentiality period for documents in the US FCC filings is set to expire on February 28, 2027.
