Earlier in the year I told you about PowersVR, the best superhero simulation available on VR headsets right now. Pseudocode Games’ Early Access release featured plenty of fun abilities, though didn’t offer much to do with them. That’s changing this week.
The developer has finally added some long-awaited features to the pre-release version of the game with the launch of v0.2.0, dubbed the ‘Dark Night Update’. Most importantly, the game now has two challenges that you can complete with specific heroes. One task, for example, has you taking out targets with the fireball and teleportation abilities. Getting high scores is a pretty tricky task, though the payoff is worth it.
Beating these challenges will also unlock two new characters to play as. The first is Nightwatcher, who uses grappling hooks to swing from building-to-building. The Witch, meanwhile has telekinetic powers born from lab experiments.
The Dark Night Update also adds a host of tweaks and fixes to the game. The game’s had a bit of a polish in a lot of areas, including textures and powers for the Speedster and more.
“Once it’s stable I’ll start working on the next content update with another couple of heroes and challenges,” Pseudocode noted in an update on Steam. I’ll also focus on creating 3D new assets and working on Enemy AI, which will not only make the sandbox and challenge areas look and feel nicer, but will also be used in the story mode.”
Currently PowersVR is only available on the HTC Vive, though the developer now has an Oculus Rift and is looking to bring the game to that platform too. With this update, the game has had its price raised to $9.99, which is still more than worth it if you ask me.
