Primordian Improves Combat, Adds New Enemies In First Major Update

We’ve always been impressed with Stonepunk Studios’ feral action game, Primordian, despite its combat often feeling like it’s missing something. The studio is attempting to fill in that blank with its first major update to the game.

Primordian Combat Update One is now available over on Steam, where the VR game is being sold through Early Access. The last time we went hands-on with Primordian we noted that enemies weren’t as aggressive as their Predator-like exteriors suggested they should be, and that the melee combat was a little too easy. This update addresses both of those things; combat should now be more brutal, with more frequent attacks and new combos needed to take baddies down.

There’s a fair amount of new content here, too. For starters, there’s a new enemy type named the Chungaah’s that are smaller than the standard soldiers. A new boss has been thrown in too, and enemies can now set traps you’ll need to avoid as you make your way through levels. Smaller updates include a new type of health item and new placements for objects around levels that are better suited to the player’s needs.

Stonepunk promises that this is the first of several combat-focused updates to be rolling out over the coming weeks. In the meantime, the team also continues to build out the second part of the game’s story mode. Until that’s ready, Primordian will remain in Early Access with support for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
