You Can Buy A PSVR Headset Right Now For $300

Sales on VR hardware have been  few and far between ever since we entered the consumer-age of modern virtual reality. Most deals on PC-powered devices such as the Rift and Vive have only come as a result of bundled deals with VR-ready computers. Discounted prices for headsets in and of themselves though have been a rare sight. During Black Friday in 2016 for the PlayStation VR (PSVR) in particular it was especially difficult to find headsets for under the listed $399 price tag. With over one million sold so far already, Sony isn’t exactly eager to cut profits.

But today is your lucky day if you’ve been holding out for a deal. The tech-focused digital retailer, Newegg, has listed their PSVR headsets on eBay at a discounted “Buy it now” price of $299 — a full $100 knocked off the usual asking price. If you don’t have a PSVR yet and own a PS4 or PS4 Pro, then this is basically the cheapest we’ve seen Sony’s immersive platform since it launched 8 months ago.

It is worth noting however that this deal only includes the headset by itself. That means if you intend on actually using the thing you will need a PS4 console and a PS Camera along with it as a bare minimum. And if you intend on playing titles like Carnival Games VR, Job Simulator, and many other upcoming releases, you’ll want to invest in a pair of PS Move Controllers as well. Not to mention games like Farpoint, ROM: Extraction, and others that all use the PSVR Aim Controller. It’s a very peripheral-dependent device if you want to get the best experience possible.

What do you think of this deal? Have you grabbed a PSVR headset yet? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
