The developers of HoloGrid: Monster Battle are bringing greetings cards to AR.
HappyGiant today announced REAL cARds for Apple’s ARKit platform on iPhone and iPad. The app allows you to create personalized messages to friends and family using AR, projecting virtual characters and objects into the real world through the camera of your iOS device. Check them out in the trailer below.
Now live as a free download, REAL cARds hopes to capture your heart this Valentine’s Day. With the current content, you can create a cutesy teddy bear to appear in the real world and assign it an interaction with objects like hearts, birthday cakes and flowers. Users will also have their own interactions like tapping a cake to blow out candles before an augmented card appears with your personalized message.
While your first AR card is free, future cards will be priced at $1.99 or $2.99 for a 3-pack. More seasonal greetings will be added in the weeks and months to come though there’s no word on possible Android ARCore support yet. No doubt HappyGiant is hoping to grab a slice of the success AR apps like Pokemon Go have already enjoyed, but is there a space for premium AR when users can send similar messages on platforms such as Snapchat for free?
