Sketchfab Favs: Monsters And Monarchies

Every week VR artists are making amazing new sculptures using tools like Tilt Brush and Oculus Quill. These elaborate artworks go beyond what’s possible in our world, often creating entirely new ones. It would be a shame to let these go to waste, so we’re highlighting four awesome new pieces featured on 3D model site Sketchfab that we’ve come across recently.

This week we’ve got monsters, vehicles, fantasies and monarchies.

The King’s Escort, by Nick Ladd

Made with Quill, this is a stunning screenshot of a king being closely guarded as he makes a chilly trek through a wintery woodland. We love the detail on the horses, and the way the the flags flicker in what must be a freezing wind. Brrrr.

Forestica, from george peaslee

Sometimes you see something in Tilt Brush and you immediately appreciate how much time it must have taken to make. Forestica is one of those pieces; it’s layered with detail upon detail, creating an incredible overall scene. This is some truly stunning work.

APC, from jamajurabaev

We’ve got an Oculus Medium submission here, and it’s the perfect example of how the platform can help you make bold, definitive images that wouldn’t look out of place in a comic book. This strikingly realistic APC looks ready to roll out, and we’d feel safe within its shell.

Karloff Monster from P3nT4gR4m

This might be one of the most realistic models ever created with a VR tool (in this case, Oculus Medium). The raw emotion visible in this take on Boris Karloff’s monster here is incredibly compelling, reminding us a little of Wilson’s Heart.
