Two months back we told you that new VR experiences based on popular zombie series The Walking Dead were on the way. Now we know that those experiences will be games, and we know which team is making them.
Skydance Interactive, the team behind upcoming VR on-rails shooter Archangel has partnered with Skybound Entertainment to release multiple new games based on The Walking Dead. The pair aren’t ready to reveal much about the first title yet, but it will apparently feature an entirely new cast, much like Telltale’s episodic The Walking Dead series did. Skydance also promises an “innovative contextual interaction system”, though there’s no details on what they actually means just yet.
It’s far from the first time we’ve seen The Walking Dead in VR. Numerous 360 videos were created in support of the long-running TV show last year, and the StarVR headset also features a game based on the series developed by Overkill. Skybound itself has also dabbled with the medium, working with Samsung to produce 360 videos and also publishing this year’s Giant Cop: Justice Above All.
We’re looking forward to seeing what Skydance does with The Walking Dead. In the meantime, the studio is set to release Archangel next month.
