Space Junkies Is Getting Move Support On PSVR

When I tried out Space Junkies on PSVR a few weeks back, I said that the DualShock 4 controls were surprisingly solid. I also said that fan demand would inevitably force Ubisoft to patch Move controls into the game sooner or later. Turns out it was sooner.

An update from Ubisoft over on r/PSVR confirms that Move support is in the works for the zero-gravity shooter. Current gamepad support locks both of the player’s hands to the one controller. With Move support, though, players should be able to aim freely. That should put them on par with Rift, Vive and Windows VR players, whom you can face-off with in cross-play.

A release window for Move support wasn’t provided. Smooth turning implementation is also planned.

Elsewhere the team revealed that will be a patch for the game next week. It’ll only include some minor fixes. A free content update will follow in the middle of the month but it’s not yet clear what will be included in it. Finally, the studio confirmed that it has plans to increase the player limit in a match. Currently, Space Junkies features 1v1 and 2v2 battles.

We were quite fond of Space Junkies, awarding the game 8/10 in our review last month. “Space Junkies does what games have done for decades: it brings a smile to your face,” we wrote. “It’s the kind of game you can either play for one match, or accidentally lose hours to. The matches are fast-paced and frenetic, the weapons are fun and varied, and the customization brings a deeper level to it all.”
