Harrowing Horror Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion Arrives On PSVR This Week

Harrowing horror game, Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion, arrives on PSVR this week.

The game is listed on Sony’s round-up of releases for the coming week. Developer Albino Moose then confirmed it’s coming to the platform on October 29. As with its 2017 release on PC, Spooky’s will feature optional VR support; you can also play it on a standard TV. That said, Albino Moose says the game’s VR support has been greatly enhanced. That extends to the PC versions.

Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion is a curious thing. It tasks players with making their way through a 1000-room mansion alive. Though the game initially promises cute characters and ‘adorable terror’, it eventually descends into increasingly disturbed madness. Horrific sprite-like monsters stalk the halls and psychological tricks are employed to creep you the heck out.

It looks a little like Dreadhalls or Crystal Rift, though it has a bit more history. This is, in fact, a remake of an earlier version of the game, supporting HD visuals, 3D models and more. It comes with all of the previously-released DLC.

On PC the game only supported gamepads, so expect to be playing this one with a DualShock 4.

This looks like a pretty good choice for a Halloween VR pick. The game’s amassed a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam based on over 400 reviews.

Also due out on PSVR this week is narrative-driven adventure, Blind Spot, and a Deluxe version of VR creativity app, CoolPaintrVR. Not a bad haul for Halloween, then.
