Standalone VR Headset Pico Goblin Goes On Sale This Week

It might not have the Oculus or Vive branding, but the Pico Goblin is actually a very solid standalone headset that’s beaten the likes of the Go and the Focus to the market. And, for this week only, you can get it at a cheaper price.

The Goblin is available for $229 on Amazon this week, saving you $40 off of the normal price of $269. That saves you a few extra bucks to pick up some games for it. Order now and it should get to you in time to fill a space under the tree. As a standalone headset, the Goblin doesn’t need any additional hardware to work; all of its computing power and the display are already housed inside.

We reviewed the Goblin earlier this year and were quite fond of it. It’s a three degrees of freedom (3DOF) headset just like Gear VR or Google Daydream that also comes with a 3DOF controller that’s basically identical to the mobile VR remotes seen on those devices too. It runs its own operating systems with a fair selection of apps and games already available. With a surprisingly clear display and solid build, it’s worth your consideration for sure, though it’s going to face serious competition in 2018 when Oculus releases its $199 Go and other devices with more sophisticated tracking arrive.
