Star Trek, Shaun of the Dead Actors Join Augmented Empire

Coatsink’s last big game, Esper 2, had some big voice talent behind it, including Nick Frost of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz fame. Frost is back for the developer’s latest title, Augmented Empire, and he’s bringing some friends with him.

The developer’s new turn-based strategy game will also feature the voice of Kate Mulgrew, known for her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager and Doug Cockle, who provides the gravelly voice of Geralt in the popular Witcher series. Garrick Hagon, who recently lent his voice to Horizon: Zero Dawn and sat in the cockpit of an X-Wing in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, rounds out the cast.

These actors will fuel Augmented Empire’s in-depth story, set on the fictional island of New Savannah. Players are cast as an onlooker following a band of rebels appearing in an AR diorama, though they’ll have full control over their actions whilst also interacting with the office space around them. Expect a meaty SRPG with plenty of missions and tactical combat. We’ve got high hopes for it.

Augmented Empire will be releasing on Gear VR this summer under the Oculus Studios banner. There’s no word on an Oculus Rift port yet but our fingers are crossed.

Elsewhere, Coatsink recently announced that its last Gear VR release, A Night Sky, is getting new content. New scenes are to be added monthly, bringing new characters, creatures and interactions to the table, all of which can be controlled using Gear’s new motion controller. The first content pack releases on June 30th for $0.99.
